History of CostumesLong before the official Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders, the St. Louis Parkettes were asked to perform at the home games at the Met Center in the city of Bloomington. They cheered the Vikings on to 5 NFL Championships and 4 SuperBowl appearances. The first director of the St. Louis Parkettes was Fran Libby. Later, Toni Swiggum took on the task to teach and direct the Parkettes.

In 1984, the Vikings organization decided to end the Parkettes reign to introduce the first ever Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders. Over 600 women auditioned and 36 were chosen for the team. The youngest member was 18 and the oldest was 33. Sue Anderson Franks was the coach of these talented women and directed for 7 years. The cheerleaders would perform to live band music for the pre-game and half-time at all home games at the HHH Metrodome in Minneapolis. On August 14, 1988 the MVC traveled to Sweden to cheer the Vikings to victory over the Chicago Bears in a preseason match-up (28-21).

ParkettesFrom 1990-1997, Mary Ann Dallas took over the coaching position for the MVC. The following season, Tami Krause began her career as the MVC Coordinator and Director. After more than 10 years, Tami continues to be the strong, passionate leader of the MVC. Since Tami has been coach, the Vikings have made it to the NFC Championship games in 1998 and 2000.

The current 2008-2009 MVC squad just began their season. These women participated in a three week audition process which included learning a variety of dances, interviewing with the MVC staff and Vikings organization, and auditioning in front of a large crowd at the Mall of America for the final cut. The MVC perform at every home game and make many appearances throughout the United States, Mexico, and the world. The MVC continue to broaden their experiences both in the local community and worldwide.
